Career

Herbert studied physics in Hamburg, Cambridge and Berlin and received his doctorate in 1991. He is a Patent Attorney and European Trademark Attorney since 1997 and a European Patent Attorney since 1999. In 2001, Herbert was among the first in the German market who joined a large law firm. Insofar, he was a pioneer in combining the competence of a Patent Attorney with excellent legal expertise. He joined Heisse Kursawe Eversheds in 2010 as Partner and Head of Patent Services.

Expertise

Herbert has a profound experience in patent matters. He focuses on patent searches, patent application procedures, patent opposition and patent revocation proceedings. Besides, Herbert specialized in advising clients and representing them before the German Federal Patent Court, the German Patent Office, the European Patent Office and the German Federal Supreme Court (Bundesgerichtshof, BGH) in matters concerning the verification of the validity of patents. His fields of technical expertise are physics, mechanical engineering, solid state physics, physical chemistry, telecommunications, optics and semiconductor technology.
